Transitions Partnerships Expand to New Albany Campus
Partnerships with Mildred Elley and Warren Washington Albany Counties ARC to provide expanded opportunities for students.
Mayfield, New York – Transitions, a premier program designed to advance college and career success for young adults with autism spectrum disorders and other learning differences, has announced its expansion into Albany, New York. The first Transitions campus is located at Mayfield, New York, where the program was founded in 2015.
This postsecondary program is for young adults with learning differences — including autism spectrum disorders, Asperger’s syndrome, ADHD, dyslexia, nonverbal learning disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments – and the desire to attend college and/or prepare for a career. Transitions provides academic, social, medical and emotional assistance for students as they pursue their educational and professional goals. Transitions curriculum focuses on building academic, employment, life and general independence skills.
As part of the expansion into New York’s Capital Region, Transitions has announced two new partnerships. The first is with Mildred Elley, a college with locations in Albany and Manhattan, and Pittsfield, Massachusetts that offers two-year programs and professional certifications in business management; office, project and event management; medical assistance; practical nursing (LPN) and nurse aide training (CNA); paralegal studies; information technology; massage therapy and cosmetology.
Transitions has also cultivated a new partnership with Warren Washington Albany Counties ARC (WWAARC), an organization that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in those three counties of New York state. The partnership with Transitions will provide internship opportunities for students in the Albany area as well as additional support in obtaining and maintaining employment.

Transitions offers students full-year and summer immersion experiences as well as week-long and weekend specialty camps. Summer programs take place on the Transitions campus in Mayfield. Applications are now being accepted for the full-year program in Albany, which will start in early 2021.
